Learn more about the Melp App – mental health support in your pocket
1. What is the Melp app?
We describe the Melp app as ‘having a therapist in your pocket’. It’s designed to be your very own ‘Mental Health Toolkit’, available 24/7.
The app contains a wide variety of videos, audio recordings and written resources to help with a number of common mental health issues, as well as therapeutic approaches. The resources have been created by a wide range of experts and we are adding new items every month.
2. Who created it?
The app was the brainchild of the Founder and Director of The Holistic Healthcare Group, Sophie Kirk.
Sophie is passionate about mental health education – always aiming for ‘prevention rather than cure’. The Melp app was created to offer support and resources to help the reduce the need for specialist or external support. The app has been expanded and developed with the help of many therapists – experts in their fields.
3. Who is Melp aimed at?
The app is for everyone!
We recommend suitability for age 14+, simply because of the range of issues that are covered. However, this is not to say without the right guidance certain resources can not be shared with younger children.
The app is ‘self-guided’ so that individuals can choose items that resonate with them and how they are feeling at a particular time.
Interestingly, our research shows that many men prefer Melp to 1-2-1 therapy options. 60% of our Melp app users identify as male versus just 30% of those that access therapy via our virtual clinics.
4. What can Melp help with?
The Melp app offers support for the following areas:
- Lack of motivation
- Building resilience
- Brain health
- Exam Stress
- Teen and Young Adult – special resources.
In addition to the resources, you can also book a session in our Virtual Clinic , if further professional support is required.
5. How does the Melp app work?
The idea behind the Melp app is that it is there whenever you need it.
If your subscription is purchased by your school, work or organisation, then it will also complement the overall mental health strategy and any additional seminars, resources and education that the Holistic Healthcare Group is providing.
As a subscriber, you will receive monthly communications, including our Melp Magazine with further information linked to the resources within the Melp app, and an email to give you an update on the latest additions. Melp gives you access to a broad range of therapies and expertise. It provides a safe space to explore treatment options. We are firm believers that, with all of the right information, individuals will be able to make the right decisions for their own mental health, every time.
6. Why use Melp rather than other mental health apps?
Melp is truly comprehensive. As well as coverage of the mental health issues as listed in question 4, the resources and tools come in many forms, introducing you to an array of support, including:
- Breathing techniques
- Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
- Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)
- Nutritional Therapy and Recipes
7. How can the Melp app be accessed?
Melp is best accessed via a smart phone…meaning you can literally carry this mental health toolkit in your pocket!
It is web based and you can simply save the icon to your home screen – making it quick to locate at any time.
Within the app, you can also mark specific resources as ‘favourites’ making them easy to find again and giving you immediate access.
8. How much is the Melp app?
You are welcome to explore the Melp app for free with our 30-day free trial.
Thereafter, prices vary depending on group purchases for schools and businesses, as well as for individuals. Do get in touch for more information on pricing.
9. I don’t have any mental health issues, is the app still useful?
Life is full of ups and downs. This app is not about ‘curing’ mental health issues, it’s about support for emotional well-being at all times. It’s about having resources that you can turn to before a mental health issue becomes an emergency.
Melp supports your mental health, well-being and emotional development – something we need throughout our lives.
10. What if I have a problem or can’t find something I need on the Melp app?
We have a great technical team who can help with access issues and any other technical concerns. However, be assured our tried-and-tested app is easy to navigate and works well 24/7, according to our subscribers.
There are over 100 multi-media resources, and we are always adding more, but if there is something specifically you feel is missing, then we love to hear feedback from our subscribers, about both the app content and the user experience.
We are developing the app all of the time.
